Duchampiana – XR Installation

By 9. September 2025No Comments

Body politics takes center stage in this artistic VR installation that challenges how we see the female form. Marcel Duchamp’s notorious painting “Nude Descending A Staircase No 2” becomes the starting point for something completely different, an immersive experience where the audience doesn’t just watch, but participates in breaking social constructs.
Here’s the twist: Duchampiana refuses to descend. Instead, she chooses to move upward, skyward, claiming her own agency after being displayed without it for so long. This physical transgression turns art history on its head.
The journey towards a free and authentic self never ends. It’s about pushing forever onwards, building resilience as you go. When you put on the headset, you encounter truths that have been buried deep within our physical bodies, truths that challenge everything about gender roles and self-determination.
This 15-minute experience questions the objectifying representation of women throughout art history and puts the power back where it belongs, with the protagonist choosing her own path.
